This Wednesday night, we all headed to check out the opening night of a new club, Taboo, which is owned by the same guy who runs Badulake. It was interesting, and had more space than Badulake, but it was darker, smokier, the music seemed louder, and it was very predominantly populated by Scandanavians. Very interesting. There were about 5-6 GINORMOUS Swedes there. One was a girl, and the others were all guys. They stood about 2-3 heads taller than every single other person in the entire place. I think they might have even rivaled the Gibsons in height! Efi came with us, and she didn't much care for the dancing, and I got sick of the heat and the smoke, so we left pretty early compared to the others.
We didn't have school on Thursday or Friday, so we rested on Thursday and then headed to the beach in Alicante on Friday. The bus ride is about an hour long, and much of the landscape reminded me a lot of southern Cali/northern Baja. We ate breakfast right in Alicante and then took a little tram out to a beach called San Juan. It was a beautiful day. Iva and I swam out to touch a yellow buoy. I loved the swimming, but the water was SO salty I could barely stand it. The waves in the Mediterranean are very different from ocean waves. It LOOKS like the ocean, but it's not. Very interesting. We strolled back through the city and got ice cream and fast food from Burger King. It wasn't actually bad for fast food. I would say it definitely rivals the fast food in the US. And they sell beer. That still catches me off guard to see beer on the menu next to, say, the kiddie meals. :) We are not in Kansas anymore, Toto!
Today, we went to Carrefour to try to find a gift for Erin's sister's bday. She didn't find anything for THAT sister, but did find something for her other sister. We went to the Mercadona later to buy ingredients for our dinner party. Efi did most of the work, and the rest of us helped. It was tons of work, but well worth the effort! Mmmm! Oh so good. She talk us a dance called sitaki out on our terrace and we danced about and then turned on the cha cha slide.
